back to baking (cookies) and crotchet!

So i went back to my 1001 sweet treats book
1001 baked goodies!

and decided to make sesame lemon cookies and almond shortbread.

these are nice, and i was able to use a lemon from my balcony garden to flavor it.

i had fun making the almond shortbread, whose composition is actually a combination of what i saw in the book, and what i know about shortbread in general

Almond Shortbread Recipe

  • toast 1/2-1 cup of almonds, let it cool for 5-10 min, then chop it up with a good knife. I used a “Chinese Vegetable Knife” like the onethis article refers to
  • mix together 1 1/4 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 tbs of almond extract
  • add the sliced almonds
  • pour into a cute tart tin, because those scalloped edges look nice on short bread. you can use a different container but i like the mini tart tin i have, which creates four “tarts”
  • bake it at 300 degree fahrenheit for 40-50 min. i pulled mines out at 40 min

Then i went back to crochet and made one complete wrist all and a second incomplete one

it was nice getting back to crochet, and i was able to fill my wrist ball with scraps of left over yarn, felt, and clothing tags. yes, i saved all these odds and ends because i Knew i was going to stuff them in Something.
