Slow cooker meals are awesome, all you have to do is chop everything, throw it in the slow cooker and 6 hours later BAM! Food! There are so many ingredients that i decided to take a nice photo of them all together. In fact, i liked these following two photos So much that i decided to display both of them :D One on top of the other in contrast.
- 1-2 lb beef bones
- 3/4 cup bean mix
- 3/4 cup mixed whole grain rice
- 1 onion
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 3 carrots
- 1 sweet potato
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tbs dry oregano
- one 14 oz can of tomato
- salt and pepper to taste
Defrost the bones, rinse the bean mix and dry rice, chop up all the veggies, then throw everything into the slow cooker. Fill the empty can of tomatoes up with water twice and dump that water in the slow cooker also. Also put some salt in to help the whole thing cook. Then, 6 hrs later, when you come back to eat it, salt and pepper it according to your preference.
In case you are wondering what that green stuff is, its freshly diced organic kale (on sale for 99Cents!) that got partially cooked by the hot stew that was ladled into the bowl.
Btw, i also made jello last night [with my daughter], and here’s a cute photo of her staring at the frozen tray of bunny shaped jello that we made from store bought concentrated juice, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and a dash of honey. My daughter has so much fun watching me cook, and helping out. I hope we can finish all the food that we are making though … But these all taste GOOD and the only reason why they aren’t getting eaten up ASAP is because i’m not letting my daughter gobble them all up at once! For me … i think i cook and bake to much, and after a while, i just don’t want to eat Anything … i also have a smaller appetite when i’m less active … like the way i am now.
oh yeah … the apples that i put in the apple pie … have been in my fridge for a Couple Months LOL and i couldn’t Bare to throw them away. so into a Pie they GO! i was considering making apple banana cake with them but … its been years since i made an apple pie and i’m REALLY GLAD i made this one!!
